The La Jolla Indian Reservation was established by Executive Order of the President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, on December 27, 1875 however it has been home for over a thousand years. The La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians is one of six federally recognized Luiseño Tribes in Southern California with a reservation consisting of nearly 10,000 acres located at the base of Palomar Mountain in Northern San Diego County, California.

"In May 2019" the La Jolla Trading Post added 76 slot machines within a 2,500-square-foot gaming area making it the only 100% smoke-free Casino in the state of California. This fact and it also having the reputation as one of the most "loose" slots in the area make it a prime yet secret gaming destination in Southern California.

The facility also includes a deli, a wide-variety snack shop and fueling station.
